Club Med Québec Charlevoix has one of the most spectacular settings of any ski resort in North America. It stands on a ridge high above the St. Lawrence River at Le Massif de Charlevoix, where the slopes seem to run straight down into the water, about an hour and a half from Québec City. Canada's first Club Med opened in December 2021 with around 300 rooms and suites, including an Exclusive Collection space, and it is open all year: for all-inclusive skiing in winter, and for hiking, biking and whale-watching in summer.

Location: Charlevoix, Québec, Canada
Charlevoix is a region of rolling mountains, forests and villages on the north shore of the St. Lawrence, east of Québec City, protected as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The landscape was shaped by an enormous meteorite impact hundreds of millions of years ago, and today it is known for its artists, its food and its views over the wide, tidal river, which here is many kilometres across.
The resort sits on more than 300 acres at the summit of Le Massif, near the village of Petite-Rivière-Saint-François. Québec City is around an hour and a half away by road, and Québec City's Jean Lesage airport is around 90 minutes away, with transfers available through Club Med.

Rooms and suites at Club Med Québec Charlevoix
There are around 300 rooms and 25 suites in Superior, Deluxe and Exclusive Collection categories, many with views of the river or the forest. The interiors pay tribute to Québec's heritage and to the First Nations who have lived on this land for thousands of years, with warm wood, local colours, traditional materials and touches such as dream-catcher headboards.
The Exclusive Collection space offers suites with premium services, including a private lounge, making it a more luxurious option within the resort.
Facilities at Club Med Québec Charlevoix
The resort is all-inclusive, with three dining concepts: Le Marché, the main buffet restaurant; Terroir & Co, a family restaurant serving fondue, raclette, Québec cheeses and maple taffy; and Le Chalet, a gourmet lounge, plus an open bar. In winter, the package includes lift passes for Le Massif, group ski and snowboard lessons and children's clubs.
There is a 23-metre heated pool, and a Nordic-inspired spa area with hot tubs, a sauna and a hammam overlooking the river, along with a Club Med Spa by Sothys for treatments, which cost extra. Optional winter activities include dog sledding, snowmobiling, ice fishing and ice canoeing on the St. Lawrence, while in summer guests can hike, mountain bike, try the circus school and take whale-watching trips on the river.

The mountain moment
The defining moment is the first run of the morning at Le Massif, which has the highest vertical drop in eastern Canada at around 770 metres: you push off from the summit and ski down through the snowy forest towards a frozen St. Lawrence River, with the far shore and its villages spread out below you. Few ski runs anywhere have a view like it.
In the evening, sink into the outdoor hot tubs as the light fades over the river, then share a fondue at Terroir & Co before a Québec-style après-ski by the fire.
Why Club Med Québec Charlevoix is one of the best mountain hotels
Club Med Québec Charlevoix earns its place because of its extraordinary setting and its ease. It combines genuinely beautiful skiing with an all-inclusive package that works brilliantly for families, and its four-season programme makes it as appealing for a summer of hiking and whale-watching as for a winter ski week. Its design, rooted in Québec and First Nations culture, gives it a sense of place that many large resorts lack.
For a more classic Canadian mountain experience, compare it with Fairmont Chateau Whistler or the lodges of the Canadian Rockies. For more family ideas, see our guide to the best family ski resorts.
When to go to Club Med Québec Charlevoix
The ski season at Le Massif usually runs from December to April, with the coldest, snowiest months from January to March; temperatures can fall well below freezing, so pack warm layers. Spring brings sunny skiing and maple-syrup season. Summer and early autumn are lovely for hiking, biking and whale-watching on the St. Lawrence, while late September and October bring spectacular autumn colour to the Charlevoix forests.
