Location: Méribel, France
The hotel is in the centre of Méribel, in the middle of the Three Valleys, with shops and restaurants on the doorstep and a private lift linking it to the slopes, so guests can ski in and out with ease. Chambéry is the nearest airport.
The Three Valleys give an extraordinary variety of skiing in a single week: the glacier slopes and high bowls of Val Thorens, the long, tree-lined runs of Méribel, the manicured pistes of Courchevel and the sunny slopes of Les Menuires. The famous La Folie Douce après-ski bars, with live music and dancing on the terraces, began in Val Thorens and now have outposts across the valleys. Méribel itself was founded in the 1930s by a Scotsman, Peter Lindsay, who insisted that all buildings follow a traditional chalet style of wood and stone, which gives the resort its harmonious, village-like look. It hosted Olympic events in 1992 and the Alpine World Ski Championships, with Courchevel, in 2023.
Les Trois Vallées is the largest linked ski area in the world, with around 600 kilometres of pistes spanning Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens and Les Menuires. Geneva, Lyon and Chambéry airports are within around two to three hours by road, and Moûtiers railway station, with Eurostar services in winter, is the gateway to the valleys.

Rooms and suites at Le Kaila
Rooms and suites are spacious and well appointed, in a refined contemporary Alpine style. Being in the village centre, not all rooms have open views, so ask for one facing the mountains.
The hotel combines contemporary design with warm Alpine materials, and the rooms are comfortable and well thought out, with generous bathrooms. Suites have separate living spaces, ideal for families or longer stays, and staff are known for their attentive, personal service.
Facilities at Le Kaila
The spa has a pool, treatments and a fitness centre, and it is popular, so book treatments early. The gastronomic restaurant is a highlight, the large first-floor bar is a lively place for après-ski, and there is a cigar lounge. A sister hotel next door offers more dining choices, and the ski room staff look after your equipment.
Its central location means Méribel's shops, bars and restaurants are a short walk away, and the private lift and ski room make getting to the slopes effortless. Staff can arrange ski passes, lessons, guides and equipment, and the hotel's sister property next door adds more dining options.

The mountain moment
The Le Kaila moment is skiing across the Three Valleys from Méribel, the heart of the world's largest ski area, to Courchevel in the morning and Val Thorens after lunch, then gliding back to the private lift and straight to the pool.
Another Méribel highlight is the view from the Saulire, high between Méribel and Courchevel, where on a clear day the peaks of the Vanoise and Mont Blanc fill the horizon. Lunch on a sunny terrace, followed by a stop at La Folie Douce on the way down and an evening in the spa, is the classic Méribel day.
Why Le Kaila is one of the best mountain hotels
Le Kaila earns its place for its central location, family hospitality and five-star comfort, with easy access to the slopes and excellent food. Some rooms have limited views, and the spa can be busy in peak weeks. But for a sophisticated base in Méribel, it is one of the best.

Méribel's central position in the Three Valleys is a real advantage: from the village, it is easy to reach Courchevel in one direction and Val Thorens in the other, so guests can explore the whole ski area without long journeys. Le Kaila's location in the heart of the resort makes the most of that.
