Hotel de len is the most stylish place to stay in Cortina d'Ampezzo. Its name means 'of wood' in the local Ladin language, and wood is everywhere: reclaimed pine walls, warm timber ceilings and handcrafted furniture, all with a contemporary Dolomite design sensibility. With just 22 rooms, a rooftop spa with an outdoor hot tub facing the peaks and a lively restaurant and bar, it is the perfect base for the Olympic town.

Location: Cortina d'Ampezzo, Dolomites
The hotel stands on Via Cesare Battisti, in the centre of Cortina, a short walk from the Corso Italia, the shops, the cafés and the ski bus, with valet parking a few hundred metres away. The nearest station is Calalzo-Pieve di Cadore-Cortina, about 32 kilometres away.
Cortina has two classic ski areas, the Tofane, where the Olympic women's alpine races were held in 2026 and 1956, and Faloria-Cristallo, reached by cable car from the edge of the town centre, while the Cinque Torri and Lagazuoi areas are perfect for scenic skiing and long lunches at mountain huts. The Cinque Torri also hold an open-air museum of First World War trenches, and from Lagazuoi skiers can take the famous Hidden Valley run. Off the slopes, the Corso Italia is lined with boutiques, cafés and historic hotels, and the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and Lake Misurina are a short drive away.
Cortina d'Ampezzo is the queen of the Dolomites: an elegant, car-light town on a sunny bowl surrounded by some of the most dramatic peaks in the Alps, from the Tofane to the Cinque Torri and Monte Cristallo. Co-host of the 2026 Winter Olympics, as it was in 1956, it is part of the vast Dolomiti Superski network and famous for its glamorous Corso Italia, its après-ski and its mountain huts. Venice and Treviso airports are around two hours by road.

Rooms at Hotel de len
There are 22 rooms, including two suites, each lined with reclaimed wood and furnished with natural materials, soft wool and linen, with views over the town or the mountains. The style is minimal and warm at the same time, more Scandinavian cabin than traditional Alpine chalet, and many guests consider it the best-designed hotel in town.
The rooms are designed for calm: soft lighting, natural textiles and wooden surfaces create a cocooning atmosphere after a day on the slopes, and many have views of the surrounding peaks. Bathrooms are modern and beautifully finished, and the attention to detail throughout reflects the hotel's focus on craftsmanship and local materials.
Facilities at Hotel de len
The spa, on the sixth floor, has views of the snowy peaks, with a bio-sauna, steam room, ice waterfall, herbal tea corner and an outdoor hot tub on the roof, the place to watch the Dolomites turn pink at sunset.
Restaurant de len, on the ground floor, serves lunch and dinner in a relaxed, modern setting, and Bar de len is a popular spot for an aperitivo with locals and visitors.
The location in the centre of Cortina means guests can explore the town on foot, from boutique shopping on the Corso Italia to some of the best restaurants in the Dolomites, and the ski bus and cable cars are a short walk away. Staff can arrange ski passes, lessons, guided ski tours and transfers.

The mountain moment
The de len moment is the rooftop hot tub at dusk, after a day skiing the Tofane: the steam rises around you as the great walls of the Dolomites glow pink, then violet, in the phenomenon the Ladins call enrosadira, and the lights of Cortina come on below.
Why Hotel de len is one of the best mountain hotels
Hotel de len earns its place for design and atmosphere. It brings a fresh, contemporary style to one of the most classic resorts in the Alps, with a beautiful rooftop spa and a central location. It has no pool and is not ski-in, ski-out, and the rooms are compact. But for design lovers who want to experience Cortina in style, it is the best choice in town.
